This Liberian guy just had arrived at JFK for his first trip to the US. When asked by the immigration interviewer," where are you going?" He replied..."I am going to Des truy, Michigan" Well with all the scrunity at airports since 911, they thought this guy was a terrorist, and he was detained. It was not until relatives stepped in, and clarified that the guy really meant Detroit, Michigan.
Does anyone have any other "Funny things Liberians say" to share? let the tape run.....

i entered med school straight out of liberia, and while doing an assessment, I asked my instructor to pass the torchlight (instead of flashlight) to examine my patient's pupil. well imagine the shock when noone around the bedside knew what a torchlight was...after clarifying i meant the penlight, my clinical instructor said " you do not need a torch in this country, we have electricity'. til this day he sees me and says no torch allowed...don't wanna burn down the hospital. not as funny as des truy...but hey.

I have a friend who worked in a major US dept store; a customer came in and asked for the "lingerie" dept and she told the customer they didn't have one. The customer told her : " the last time I was here, there was one, I just don't remember where".
She said: M'aam, I've worked in this store for 2 yrs and I know we don't sell any "lingerie" and the customer left!

When she explained the incident to my sister and I, we fell on the floor laughing.
She was pronouncing it as it is spelt, instead of "loungeray"!

Anyway she said when she wants sex..(Contradicting herself)
