If in your case.......
Imagine during one of your endless conversations with your mother ( who belongs to this particular religion) she tells you.....son /daughter, in case of an illness or any problems resulting to me requiring blood tranfusion, under no condition should i be given it. Do not allow me to recieve any blood products if the need arises for you to make that decision.
Note, your mother doesn't have an advanced health directive or have not filled in one ever.
It happen sometime later she is involved in an accident ,and has hemorrhaged(bled) greatly. As a result of the accident, she has suffered a traumatic brain injury and needs surgery to control internal bleeding within the brain. You are present and the doctor has informed you of what is likely to occur (brain damage) if she doesn't have this surgery. Additional, the doctor has informed you that she needs to have several units of blood for a start , during the surgery, and after the surgery. What will be your decision? Will you respect the wishes of your mother and allow her to die? Remember, a hasty response is required as it will invariably affect her outcome/ prognosis.
If in your case, what will you do? |

The will of God is greater than my will and my mother's will. I will be in agreement with her and her religious belief I grant her that wish. And we all know that I CAN NOT serve two masters. In this case her wishes will be denied, she will have to stick around for more years to come. I don't want nobody blood on my hand.

You know latifah this is a tough one .....out of respect I would listen to her wishes.....but out of love for her.......I wuold not honor her wishes. You know sometimes people have a change of heart; I mean what if she had changed her mind since that last conversation?
There would be too many "what ifs" going through my mind.......and like kru_liberiangirl said, I don't want that responsibility or my mother's blood on my hands. |
