In the early '90s, I was in Ghana for a few months and could not understand why I was being "hit on" so much. And a friend of mine explained it to me. It was because of the "lightness" on my skin. They called it "fair color"! I don't know if you've seen my pics, but I'm not
that
"fair".
What was equally amazing was the number of women "bleaching" their skin, killing themselves to get this "fair color"! You would see beautiful women who have done this, and now they look like .............I don't know how to describe it, almost like a zebra, except with red stripes instead of white! |

No wonder we get on well Rina..me too I am fair, well being what they call half caste.....ummmm please, (will the politically correct brigade back off don't correct my terminology cos if you try I will give you a lecture and you will wish you hadn't started )I get enough attention.
They don't want my mind but the skin colour.
Bleaching is a terrible thing. The people doing it, do so even knowing full
well that it leads to skin cancer and damages the inner organs.
They stink like putrified fish..because the skin is actually rotting away as they damage each layer of skin.
Na yellow dem wan yellow, na fine dem wan fine,
If I call dem now say pour bleach for body dem go tell me say I don craze. Yet na the same chemical they use for making household bleach dem dey use in bleaching creams
I beg stop am o. God knows he made each and everyone of us Unique
and Perfect in His own Eyes. Or you wan tell me say God did not do
a good job on you?

You know even men are doing it too?
I don't know why.......but I guess we'll never fully understand this whole "bleaching" thing.
I've had friends say it's because of my skin color. I guess they get discriminated against, or not asked out. I would not date a man that is solely interested in the color of my skin. I would like to believe that there is more to me than a color! |

True True
I know this guy who has the soap and the creams. He is only in his 20s.
Very handsome and intelligent..yet when I ask him WHY he cannot give me an answer. He ended up going to see a dermatologist who told him to stop using bleaching products. He won't listen.
He says he cannot imagine not using bleaching creams. Makes me want to cry

So Sisi
Does he look natural?!? I mean they come out looking like an odd shade of pink! And they never quite get the areas of the skin that has "creases"; like the knuckles, elbows, toes, etc.
And it's almost like you can see through their skin.
This lady I knew a lifetime ago, swore she was this "light" color, then she started getting "pimples" on her face that would not go away! If she popped them, they left a nasty scar. The doctor told her that she had been bleaching so long, that she had totally "eroded" the upper layer of her skin, and that's why the pimples weren't going away!
At that point I totally "freaked"!!!!! And she was like "oh that's nothing, the doctor didn't know what he was talking about"!!!!!
Can you imagine??????? Is that stuff addictive or something? |

Ok it's like this..bleaching creams are made from the same stuff as bleach that we use for making clothes white or cleaning toilets.
The reason as you said that you can almost see through their skin is because the layers of skin get peeled off or should I say burnt off.
When we use bleach to clean our toilets or for bleaching clothes, it tells
you on the bottle..do not let it touch your skin. If even a tiny drop splashes on your skin you can actually feel your skin smarting/a burning irritating sensation.
Once the layers of skin are damaged, God forbid if surgery is needed
there is no way suturing/stiching can take place, because the skin is now
very thin there is nothing for the stitches to go through and hold onto.
Our Elbows and knuckles tend to be darker and the skin is different.
So the creams don't have much effect on those areas. No matter how
many tubs or bottles of bleaching creams they use, they will always
have blacker areas. You find also their skin is even green and red on some parts.
Some people are know it alls.. they know better than the people who
advice them. I say, let them wallow in ignorance if that is where they
want to be.
