Do you like where you grew up more than where you are at now?
I grew up in Barnesville estate area, a little outside of the capital with kids that were always trying to get at me. Other than that I'd still prefer to live in the capital.
What about you? Where did you grow up in your childhood? |

I grew up in Ibadan and Lagos in Nigeria.
I miss the childhood years.
Times change, places change, those we love die
and so if you hear me say *I wish*.. I am only
craving for the past, and reliving the memories.
I live in Kent and it is a totally different place.
The last 5 years or so has seen the area I am
live in fill with fine African Brothers and Sisters.
I am very happy where I am.
My only wish is when I am dead, I want to
be buried back home.

I grew up in monrovia city. Looking back now, it was like heaven. When i close my eyes and think about home, i see that old monrovia city that was so beautiful peaceful, safe and just plain fun to "go walk about"(wakabor). No matter what changes there have been, i just cannot erase that sweet monrovia where i grew up from my mind. I love it one million times more then where i live now. With all there development, there's just no juice. |

I grew up in both Harbel, Liberia and Lisbon, Portugal. I had a generally pleasant childhood.
Live in London, England now. Quite like the city. |

I grew up in Fiamah, Sinkor Airfield, Paynesville, LU and Smythe Road. Those were the days...................care free, hanging out, playing "FREE KICK", "STICK", "MUST" and "NAIL JUKE" ; swimming at Bernard Beach, eating almonds, LIPPS INC and BLACK SUGAR ......................(sigh).
I live in the US now and have not been to a beach in 15 years (one with blue waters and white sands, that is) but all that's gonna CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love my life here in the US, but I miss Liberia too.
Where on Old Road, denzel? |

Does anybody have any photos of back in those days?
I just feel it would be nice to see how things looked back then.
By the way..it does not have to include your picture if you
don't want to go that far

As I can record, its been a very long time; but I grew up in between Logan Town and Jamaica Road, went alot to places like Bong mine field, to watch soccer; Bong mine beach to swem; play soccer on Gbapleh field. Also when I was growing up in these are I along with my friends stole suger cane, cracked palm karnel, threw rocks to pick plums(thats germans plums and your regular mangos); play marble most of the time for fun but some times for money too. I have clumbed coconut trees, dance in a Saniklu(Santa Clues) costume and sang most often that old christmas song: ".......O saniklu weya, i hey o weya weya, saniklu i hey" Additionally, I also record how I attended the Calvery Baptist school both in sinkor Faimah and 12 street; New Era Int. school on Jamaica rd; D. Tweh momorial high; have lived in Danane, Ivory Coast; Accra, Ghana; Lagos and Port Harcourt, Nigeria; and I am currently living land fair, fair away at the end of my Laptop computer......lol |

Sisi...........I remember eating pitangas when I visited my aunt in Firestone. And why is everyone acting like they didn't eat green golden plum with lime and pepper?
When I lived in Fiamah, there was this Nigerian couple that owned the local store ( Nigerian shop as we called it then), that lady made the best Kala in all the world! All my bus fares went to that lady. We lived in the Hage Apts adjacent to Counselor Findley's house.
Denzel, I know that area very well. My uncle lived right around there also. Anybody remembers playing in the rain? Wow......................that was just the favorite part of raining season for me. I could not wait for it to rain. And even now, whenever it rains the urge to run out and get wet is almost unbearable! |
