Aaaaaaaah Denzel I hold ur two foot don't do this to us. We've had this question posted by someone else in this forum. Liberians are doing great things all over the world.
There are Liberians in sports, entertainment, politics, education, etc. There is a Liberian pro football player that plays for Greenbay packers. There is an Liberian alderman in the city of Chicago, Business owners all over the world, the university I went to we had several Liberian professors, and not to mention the doctors and lawyers. We are out there doing great things behind the scenes.
People don't have to recognize what we do for us to realize that we are doing great things. Thats how the rich stay rich. You can walk pass a billionaire in the street and won't even know it.
Stay Blessed |

I think you need to do some more research before starting this post. |

I think this is a legitimate question that needs to be answered.Liberians in the states are in the greatest country on earth with unlimited opportunities. The saying goes ´´to whom much is given, much is expected.´´I have achieved some personal goals in life(eg.a sociology degree,UL,traveling, aiding my relations, bettering my person to be a better human being, etc). The fact of the matter is, I am not in the states. The burden is on y´all to give names of Lberians that have achieved fame/fortune in sports/entertainment and other fields. Those that are famous like, say,Mutombo,Akon,Olajuwon, etc.Let´s not get evasive or personal, because I am not attacking you individually. To the contrary, I am atttacking Liberians as a whole, myself included. We have to be auto-critical to progress,if not, we will remain stagnant.Isn´t there a Liberian, at least, a la Weah, man? Is Weah the only recognized name Liberia has?If so, I am vindicated by my statement that Weah is the greatest.Other Africans always pose this question to me,therfore,I am passing the touch to y´all in the land of milk and honey. Stay lovely, homies. |

Why are you being lazy? If I was posed the same queestion, I'd do some research and back up my claims. You still need to do the research. The burden is not on me, for I know scores of Liberians that have made an impact in American society and the world! The burden is on you to "broaden" your horizon (or list) by doing the research!
P.S. For someone who thinks quoting scriptures is hiding........................you almost fooled me. Or maybe you are hiding!
"to whom much is given, much is expected"...............Matt. 25: 29 The Parable of the Ten Talents. |

"The burden is on y´all to give names of Lberians that have achieved fame/fortune in sports/entertainment and other fields." This statement is a link to why Liberians are wanting to come to the U.S so badly. When you make a statement like this, you are saying to other Liberians around the globe that success is only gain in America. Being in America does not determine ones success in life.
Can I ask WHO and WHAT determines that the burden of achievement falls on the head of Liberians in the U.S?
This forum topic sounds like you are looking for Liberians that have won metals and awards for their achievement in the U.S. I can't give you any. But I can give you some names of Liberians that are achieving great things in the U.S and are also extending their hands in Liberia. I know two of these people personally but the rest are typical Liberians doing what they do best. Here are just a few:
1. Mr. Charles S. Mombo, President & Chairman of the Board.--
Burnedbrass Technologies, Inc.
2. Dr. Samuel Thompson- Western Illinois University Professor (Geography Department)
3. Elmo Dunkin III- Computer Consultant (Edafricom)
4. Ellen Byrdsell- Architect (Women of Fire NGO)
5. Liberian Educational Achievement Foundation(NGO)
President
Lawrence D. Sekajipo Jr.
Vice President
Stephen S. Semackor
6. Ashton Youboty- Ohio State Cornerback
Junior Finance Management Major
7. Kru_liberiangirl - I will not blow my own horn, but I will give God the golry for both degrees that I have accomplish and the NGO he is using me to provide services to the youth in Liberia. |

Look gals/guys, the answer is simple, there isn´t any.We only have George Oppong Manneh Weah the greatest Liberian ever and our only reigning celebrity-superstar to match other superstar of african descend. This truism applies to my siblings, nieces, nephews and other relations in the states also. I rest my case.Liberians in the states are successful but not as mega-successful as the mutombos and Olajuwons, period.Nothing to be ashamed of, our time will come. |

Liberia is not built of the success of Weah. Well I quess in your eyes the only way a Liberian can be
"Liberians in the states are successful but not as mega-successful as the mutombos and Olajuwons, period."
successful is based on the amount of money and fame they have. So your final argument is, if one is not a reigning celebrity superstar they are not a successful Liberian? Well then I guess Kenyans are the most successful with all the marathons runners they have huh?
Maybe I should have stuck with volleyball after college and went pro, then I would be successful today huh?
Denzel are you a Liberian?

Denzel is a Weah fan...........................and seeks every opportunity( this is not the first thread) to show that he is George's biggest fan.
If I ever see Oppong, I will let him know that he has a die-hard fan on this website.
That way your shameless "brown-nosing" will not go in vain! |

I beg to differ on your reference to me as a brown-noser.However, I am unashamedly a great admirer of Oppong(fan signifies fanaticism and I am too moderate for that). Not specifically for what he has achieved, but what he has done with his achievement. If you could do away with your disguised antagonism/jealousy towards Weah, maybe you, too, could see what a great human being he is and a true inspiration to Liberia as a whole(the only true rags to riches story, the stuff of legend, about a legendary figure, we have). If Liberians in the states could get out of their stupor, maybe they too would achieve greater things as other Africans have. And for the record,I was not saying LIBERIANS ARE NOT SUCCESSFUL.MY QUESTION WAS/IS, ARE THERE ANY LIBERIAN MEGA-CELEBRITIES IN SPORTS/ENTERTAINMENT OR OTHER FIELDS? |
