I came across this article and it really worries me since I know many of us use mouth wash as part of out daily routine. What do you all think about this article?
A COMMON ingredient in toothpaste and mouthwash can cause high cholesterol and increase the risk of heart attack orstroke.
The bad news about the flavourless additive, called Poloxamer-407 (P407), comes from Victoria Cogger, a medical researcher with the Centre for Ageing and the ANZAC Research Institute in Sydney.
Her team found that when P407 was given to mice, it coated cells in the liver that control cholesterol levels, leading to a 10-fold increase in levels.
"There's a danger to keeping your cholesterol high ... this can lead to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) over time," Dr Cogger said. This significantly increases the risk of heart attack, stroke or organ failure.
P407 is a detergent added to toothpaste and mouthwash to help mix the ingredients.

There are some people who need the mouthwash...............................hell they need the floss, toothpaste and the mouthwash! I think for those individuals, they may want to dilute the mouthwash if there is a fear, not discontinue use!
I use a brand that's made from the Tea Tree Oil or the Melaluca products, that lack or is more natural.
With some mouthwash, the percentage of alcohol is way too high! And I think that can also be a problem. |

You ever notice how things once thought healthy and good for you some how become bad, but then the things thought originally bad for you become good for you. |

Sometimes I make a natural mouthwash out of clovers.
It's the added rubbish that is bad for us, and I wonder
why they add these dangerous things.

Thanks Rinabear07. By the way can I call you Rina , or would you prefer Rinabear07?
As for me I use mouth wash sometimes. So I am not too concerned. There's a saying that goes if there is a product made whether its something you eat or you use it for self care, if you cannot pronounce the name of an ingredient in the content of what your using you shouldn't use it |
