Many years ago, I met a number of Liberian students who were living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, where I lived and was born. We were good friends through whom I learned about Liberia, its history, culture, food and music. Then we lost touch with each other as they returned home and my life went on. Because of them, I have paid closer attention to events in Liberia which have occurred through the years. I have also wished many times to reconnect with them, to learn about their lives through the years and to share information from my own life. Periodically, I search for them on the Internet. Today, I discovered that one of them, Rudolph Sherman died in 2007. This leads me to renew my effort to find any of them who are still alive.
A few years ago, I traveled to a Pan African Women's Conference in Tripoli, Libya. While there, I met women from Liberia. As we were departing for home, the news came about the situation which occurred when Charles Taylor came into power. I asked the women at the conference about my old friends and learned that one of them, Emma Campbell was a legislator in the national government and that another, Tikla Williams, a journalist was living in the US. I sent a letter to Emma Campbell but never received an answer.
I am writing in case someone has suggestions on how I might find them and contact them. I would be grateful for the help.
