Liberia, the country that is starting anew, has many business opportunities. For starters,we could start auctioning the country to the highest bidder. Some enterpreneurs could come up with other business ideas to maximize the sales pitch of the country. We have already sold our flag. Why not start auctioning counties,streets/roads and the national anthem to include the name(s)of the highest bidder(s).Sovereinty is overrated in the first place. We could entrust our economic and military sector to the Americans and become a trustee territory of the United States.Technically,Liberian belongs to the U.S. anyway. It would relieve us of the burden of corruption and the kleptocrats who always flee to the States.Where would they go then?We would enjoy permanent residence status of the U.S. and at the same time be Liberian citizens. We would have the best of both worlds.Liberians are obsessed with the states anyway.I think we should give this some serious thought. The world is all about the bottom line at the moment.Three million is a small number to lift out of poverty. |

Point of correction, Liberia
does not
belong to America!
Liberia was selected as one of the countries to send ex-slaves or descendants of freed slaves.
Research time!
You can still enjoy the best of both worlds; it's called dual citizenship! |

How would giving Liberia to America relieve Liberia of corruption?
As I understand it, there is corruption in America, same as every
nation in the world.

Im in Canada and sometimes id like to see Canada US drop the border and become one .
But some ways Canada is the better country I just got back from 2 weeks in US and I have to admit I appriciated Canada more when I got home . American Cities seem to have alot more crime .
But also Canada seems to in alot of cases have friendlier peoples .
And some parts of Canada is just as rich . Western Canadian provences like Alberta are very wealthy . I was in Alberta last year and i suspect its the worlds most booming economy there .
I'm on east coast here now and this part of Canada is now becoming alot poorer as its economy was mostly based on fishing and now our fish resources are in extremly bad shape .
The only reason id like to see border gone is in Canada fishing licences cost a fortune but in US almost nothing as so much oppertunity in US alot don't bother with fishing .
But most have just gave up fishing gone to Alberta as even now Alberta is 100,000 workers short and its all big pay there . My problem is don't know other trades accept for fishing .
I never been to Africa yet , but from a distance it looks like most of africas problem is lack of trust . So many scammers in places like nigeria that alot of investers over look africa now .
myself i think there is more oppertunities in africa then in these western countries if you can just find the capital to get started .But then again i haven't been there .
Lots of workers needed in Alberta though folks . I think its not hard to get tempoary work visas if you are english speaking . As i needed a crew for a boat a while ago and called a agency and they told me could bring people in easy for up to one year to work as long as they spoke english . Might be some chances out there for some to earn some capital .They pay big saleries out there for every thing . |

For Canada and the US, there are many amenities that both countries enjoy that is beneficial to both. Removing the border would allow that "high crime rate" you spoke about to cross the borders without being checked! Not that it doesn't happen already!
In the state of Maine, New England, Cape Cod areas, you would probably find more fishermen; the fishery business is booming out there.
Around where I am, its a pastime, it's done for leisure.
Posting an AD in a local paper for one of those areas may get some response. |

Give Liberia's Sovereignty away? Comming from a country that has fought like mad for the past millenium to remain independant I find that a
no go
zone!
Countries can be small and very wealthy. Look at Switzerland. And Liberia has many more natural reources! |

No way so you are just going to give away what our forefathers struggle, fought, and in somecases give their life for just to get away from ur own problem??? I think lib. is one of the best country in the world and will always be .......WE NEED TO DO SOME -----SELFLESS SERVICE-----FOR OUR COUNTRY, AND INTERGRITY WHICH iS OUR WEAKNESS. this is what makes America better and i think that's all any country needs......
(nigeria is on of the world's leading producer of oil, but has one of the highest level of poverty.......guess what?? leadership is lack of intergrity (huh gotta catch up on my sleep ) |

Exactly pacman. Bad leadership, politicians lining their
pockets with the countries wealth, is what has finished
off Nigeria.
This new president will be no different..
Just pray for Liberia that she grows from strength to
strength. I know that those who really want better things
for the nation will continue to make their mark.
