How does one post an Avatar here? I've noticed that some people have one. What size pixels on avatars also? I went to my profile but did not notice a place to upload an avatar.

On the button right side of the homepage, you will see a block called
Member Panel
Click on
My Profile
in that block. you will be taken to your
Your Profile page

Schroll down.
You will see
Avatar control panel
.
From there you should choose from
Select Avatar from gallery:
There are options for you to choose from.
Flag
,
Gallery
,
People
.
choose your avatar from any of the options there.
You also have other options too.
Upload Avatar from your machine
or
Upload Avatar from a URL
You can upload your own photo as an avatar depending on the size.
Maximum Avatar File Size For uploaded avatar files: 36864 Bytes.
Maximum Avatar Dimensions (Height x Width in pixels) . 200 x 150.
