It really bothers me that some men no longer get up to give a seat to a woman, or no longer open the door for her to enter a building or get in/out of a car. What's going on?
I really do think less of a guy when I see this happening! Okay ladies, am I the only woman this bothers? Guys feel welcome to defend. |

Rinabear you're talking about the western world. In Africa it still happening in most of Africa. I did it once for a lady in the bus, people thought I wanted her for love. I mean everyone kept looking at me, I even regreted for what I did. |

Well hello stranger!
MIA....................cause a stir and then disappear.
Don't stop doing it just because people stare. Like I stated earlier, I really believe that is something a man should always do. Forget about Women's Liberation and all that stuff. A true gentleman will always hold the door for a lady and give her his seat!
P.S. You were missed! |

Honestly..I believe, do the right thing..don't worry about what's going through other people's minds. Most of them don't have the values You and I are used to.
On Tuesday I was in the post office que.. ( England has Ques everywhere) an elderly man came behind me and I asked him to go before me.. another man who was watching this..broke into a very
big smile. I could tell he was very surprised to see a woman
showing the elderly the respect and dignity they deserve.
I have to say, I saw the same smiling gentleman in another part of the
shopping centre later that morning and he gave me another MASSIVE
smile
It makes me mad when I see RUDE people with no consideration for
other people.

It really kills me when "grown rusty" men sit down and pretend that they don't see a lady/woman standing; boys are included in that category too!
Ladies raise your sons to do this, or else they'll grow up to be young men who disrespect their elders! |

How about this..
I gave up my seat on a bus for a pregnant woman. Guess what she did.. told her child of about 10 years of age to sit there.
I wondered why I bothered.

I guess people are so used to the way things are now; that sometimes they don't even appreciate it.
A friend told me of a story where she had gotten up for an "older" woman to sit down; the older lady got upset and "cussed" her out! She told my friend: " I am younger than your mama, why you giving me a seat?" My friend along with several others on the bus was shocked!
Can you imagine????? |

It makes you wonder!!!
People have been conditioned to be suspicious and on the defence, even
when there is no need for it.
It's as if people think, if you are doing them a good turn there has to be
some kind of ulterior motive.

Ain't that the truth! Or it could be that some "old" people don't want to get old or be associated as old! |

You know why? cos the youth of today have ridiculed the word old.
They have turned it into a dirty word.
The number of times I have heard people insulting people because
of being old. Even if you are in your 30s and 40s some will twist the
word old and it then it becomes a word of contempt.

I think also it's because the youth of today do not value life. They have no concept of aging. I know this may seem unrealistic, but when you take into consideration the number of their friends that die at an early age from "drive-bys", drug and gang related slayings it is concievable! |

The youth of today say it can never happen to them. The feel they are indestructable.
Mind you we know there are many decent young people so I don't want
to paint everyone with the same brush.

I agree there are some very nice and respectful young people; it's just that the unruly ones kinda either outnumber the good; or that whole "one bad apple spoils the whole bunch" thing!
But respect is something that is taught from birth; 'cuz as old as I am, when my mom, aunts, older associates talk, I shut up and don't speak while they are speaking. |
