How unpredictable life is when one thinks all is black and white.I left Liberia with preconceived notions about life and people.Reality gave me an electric shock and I had to do a reality check and personal reassessment.I believe that racism, prejudice and discrimination are ones fear of the unknown and a presumption of the supposedly known.I experienced the worst kind of prejudice/discrimination from my own kind in Africa;Zambia,South africa,Namibia,etc(violent/physical) than I have experienced in South America.I got a residence permit with a credit card within a year in Brazil/Chile,but I stayed three years in South Africa and did not even get a permit. What does that say about we Africans? Why are we afraid of each other? Why the hatred for another black skin?I live among people of another race and I am happier than when I lived with my own people. We have to have a reality check of ourselves.Humanity is greater than any negative force. I am a firm believer of this.I have disabused myself of those negative notions and ideas about people. My judgemnt of people is based on how we interact with one another on a personal level,no generalizations.Knowing people better gives you a better understanding about human beings.Let´s make the effort.
