Where to Stay?

Hotel & restaurant business has been mushrooming in Monrovia for sometime now since the war ended.The same can be said for major cities and towns across the country. The other towns don't have too many hotels. Often accommodation in these towns is in the forms of missions or aid organizations, but these frequently do not have sufficient facilities to accommodate independent travellers.

The best accommodation is in Monrovia where there are few hotels of international standard and a range of semi luxury and budget hotels and motels. Hotel accommodation is readily available in 3 to 5 star hotels. Guest houses abound both the capital city and other regions within the country. Very moderatly priced accommodation is available. It is advisable to book in advance.

Camping is free in the few official sites and tour operators run sites near the national parks. Wherever you decide to camp, please exercise caution and stay safe. A lot of the hotels in Liberia were temporarily closed because of the civil war. Some have reopened but are very expensive.
